Whether you’ve visited other churches before or if this is your first time trying out a church, we want to help you understand better what we will do on Sunday mornings and why. We gather together each week to remind ourselves of who God is and what He has done for us through Jesus; we call our response to these things “worship.” Worship can look different in various churches, so we’d like to explain what those pieces look like at Beth Eden.

WELCOME!

OUR TEAM

  • Jason Pilchard

    LEAD PASTOR

Jason grew up at Beth Eden Baptist Church and has served as the Lead Pastor since 2015. Prior to being called as the lead pastor of Beth Eden, he served as the Youth Pastor of Grace Baptist Church in Farmington, NM and in a variety of assistant roles at Beth Eden - including director of Camp Eden in Golden, CO. Jason is married to his high school sweetheart, Bethany, and they have two children Elijah and Zachary. Jason and Bethany enjoy long city walks, attempting home improvement projects and rooting for all of the Colorado sports teams. Jason is rumored to have once had a serious Diet Coke addiction.

  • Randy Vawter

    ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Randy began attending Beth Eden Baptist Church when he was 11 years old, after his family moved to the Denver area from central Illinois. He filled several ministry positions around Beth Eden until he joined the pastoral team in 2012. For ten years, Randy served as the Director of Camp Eden, before taking on full-time pastoral duties in 2023. Randy met his wife, Nikki, while working at Camp Eden during his college years. They have three kids - Peyton, Jackson, and Stella - who are all nice and smart, and you probably should meet them before you meet Randy. In his free time, Randy enjoys woodworking and sharing good stories with his family. He’s a big fan of both coffee and Coke Zero, but he’s not dependent on either (probably).

  • David Eilert

    CHURCH MUSIC ASSISTANT

David joined Beth Eden in 2018 and serves as the Music Assistant, leading congregational singing each week. He and his wife, Sarah, also serve as Beth Eden’s youth leaders. David teaches orchestra and band at a public middle school in the Littleton Public School district and enjoys coaching middle school basketball. While Sarah is a Colorado native, David grew up in Michigan, and the two of them met in college. They love walking CO trails, discovering new breakfast places in Denver, and cheering on the Broncos and Wolverines.

What We Teach About…

Beth Eden Baptist Church has a long and rich history in the Denver area. From the Highlands neighborhood where it began to its current place on the corner of 26th and Wadsworth, Beth Eden has long been marked by conservative doctrine, pastoral care, and a passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Beth Eden Baptist Church was founded in 1893 and almost immediately made its impact felt throughout western Denver. Through work in the Highlands and Berkley neighborhoods, Beth Eden influenced young people through youth societies, the disadvantaged through a mission, and all peoples through the preaching of the gospel.

Beth Eden dedicated a new building in 1930 on Lowell Blvd just north of 32nd Ave. That church building still stands today and is registered as a Historic Landmark with the City and County of Denver. For nearly 80 years the congregation of Beth Eden ministered from that location.

In 1936, the first of three long-tenured pastors, Dr. Sam Bradford, was called to lead the church. Under Dr. Bradford, Beth Eden planted two other Highlands-area churches. In 1944, Dr. Bradford purchased Institute Park from Denver Bible Institute (now CCU) and renamed it Camp Eden. Camp Eden, located in Coal Creek Canyon, still operates as part of the ministry of Beth Eden Baptist Church.

Dr. Earle Matteson assumed the pastorate in 1964. Under his leadership Beth Eden Baptist Church moved to its present location. Dr. Matteson oversaw the founding of Beth Eden Baptist School, which still serves the Denver area by providing quality education in a caring, Christian atmosphere.

In 1991, Dr. Jim Efaw moved from West Virginia to become the Senior Pastor.  He brought with him a passion for missions that has driven Beth Eden’s desire to share the gospel, both globally and locally. Dr. Efaw's 24 years of ministry continued the long tradition of conservative doctrine, pastoral care, and passion for the Gospel that has marked Beth Eden's 100+ years of existence.

In August 2015, Pastor Efaw announced his resignation. Beth Eden Baptist Church immediately began a search that ended where it started - within our congregation. In October 2015, Jason Pilchard, one of the assistant pastors, was called to be the Senior Pastor.
